Why do cops ALWAYS make mountains out of molehills? Think of it as a jobs program for cops! These bogus threats make it looks like the cops are needed. Remember H. L. Mencken's quote which is:
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."
False alarm outside Fall Frenzy in Tempe Posted: Friday, September 17, 2010 6:30 pm The Associated Press Tempe police say four suspicious packages have been found outside the entrance to Tempe Beach Park where thousands of people are attending a concert. Police say the park's entrance was shut down Friday night, but there were no evacuations and the Fall Frenzy festivities continued on schedule. They say a backpack was spotted around 5 p.m. hidden behind an ATM machine near the park's entrance. The package was deemed suspicious because of its placement and police found three other similar packages in the same area. Tempe Police Bomb Squad and the city's Fire Department say the packages were moved to a different area so authorities can safely destroy them.
