That old adobe house that is on College Avenue
between McKellips Road and Curry Road
which is just north of the water treatment plant is now owned by Tempe.
It used to be owned by a Jewish lady named Rose Eisendrath
The racists in the Camelback area would not let Jews hang out with them so she bought 40 acres of land near downtown Tempe in an area called the “Elfin Hills” in 1930. She built the home then and moved into it in 1931. The home is called the “Pueblo Revival” adobe home. She named the home "Lomaki" which means “Beautiful House” in Hopi. It is also called “Villa Gornischt” which is Spanish and Yiddish for “Nothing House”. In 2002 the government tyrants from the City of Tempe acquired the home. |
